Bespoke Spinel, Pearl and Diamond Earrings for a 70th Birthday
One day, we received a request from N, who has supported RECEPTION since the shop first opened.
She showed us a ring that her mother had worn many years ago.
Even as a child, she had always thought the stone was beautiful, and seeing the ring brought back strong memories of her mother.

N asked us to create a pair of earrings using stones in a similar color.
Her husband and daughters had offered to commission the earrings as a gift to mark her 70th birthday.
The color was quite distinctive. We considered rubies and searched through a wide range of natural gemstones, but none felt quite right.
During a business trip to Tokyo, we took the ring with us and visited several suppliers. The stones we eventually found are shown here.
As we discussed the options with N over LINE, we both agreed that spinel was the right choice.
N also wanted to include pearls and had diamonds of her own that she wished to reuse. After discussing these elements, we presented two design options.
She selected one of the two designs, and the completed earrings are shown here.
When the earrings were ready, N visited the shop with her husband and was delighted with the result.
